She grabbed Chris’s sleeve and hauled him towards the steps. ‘Come on, Romeo.’ He looked down at her thoughtfully. Home, James!’ As they made their way towards the stairs, Bernice noticed that quite a few tables were empty now. Even Sara’s customers had to go home sometime. ‘No reactions to mentioning the Project,’ said Chris as they climbed the stairs. ‘Nothing from Lucifer, nothing from Sara,’ agreed Bernice. ‘Unless they’re both lying, of course.’ Chris shrugged. ‘Looked like genuine puzzlement to me. We just drew a blank.’ ‘So what do we do now? Advertise on the back page of the Megacity Gazette? “Wanted, news of large-scale criminal conspiracy, dating back many years.
